Oogami remarks that he was basically herded into sales because of his wolf heritage, with the implication that that really wasn't where his interest lay at all. Meanwhile the product development team is, prior to Oogami's arrival, entirely made up of herbivores, and mostly sheep at that.

This is a bit of social commentary or at the very least "art meets life." Not so long ago, there was this tendency to shunt female software programmers - who were already underrepresented - towards UI/UX. As this was before mobile and web apps made UI/UX far more important, that was neither the best career path or the most exciting work. On the flip side - not doing "both sideism" just relaying what I have read in the news- males who have tried to do the "mid-career change" thing from declining industries like factory work to female-dominated careers with more opportunity like healthcare and early childhood education have reported that their new coworkers didn't exactly roll out the welcome mat for them. Examples: "I finally get a workplace where I don't have to worry about being sexually harassed and they ruin it by recruiting men" and "great, watch them first get paid more and then get promoted over us."

So, I hope that this does very well and ultimately gets an anime adaptation. For the longest we had the endless "male finds himself in female-dominated environment" and either he is a raging pervert, one or more of the females are straw misogynists (or simply hates the main character), harem hi-jinks ensue or some combination of the three. It would be great to see a more mature, nuanced treatment. For example, it seems that Alice and her cohorts aren't depicted as, say, the Prison School student council but rather reasonable people with understandable motives.

I kinda of like the art beyond that it doesn't do much for me.

A pet peeve of mine is when humans with animal traits have both sets of ears....but reading that the author gives an explanation for this kinda makes me wanna forgive them...even if that still looks weird to me

It's a pet peeve of mine, too, and in the context of the story, the author's explanation really worked for me. It's hard not to notice, but it makes me feel better that there's a definitive reason.
