I made an account explicitly to comment here that The Vertical World is one of the best manga I've ever read, and if you like adventure or science fiction, it is absolutely worth your time. Kuu Tanaka isn't a great artist but he's an amazing writer, and The Vertical World feels like a story he had in his head for a long time before putting pencil to paper.
