I am new here and I can tell that this is not going to good relationship between chat and reviewer. As far as the political angle is concerned I think it is impossible to make an animated series with enough detail to satisfy everyone because, in politics, detail is everything.
There just isn't time or money to be made for One Piece levels of detail in animated politics since it is not profitable for the bean counters in Japan in addition to the possibility that you influence political discourse in your country if your series does become a hit and that doesn't fly for the people who are quite comfy with being in power. I can go on about how I disagree with the reviewer about the politics of the series working in world (which is as much as you can ask for in political anime).
But that Souma is some Gary Sue is a cheap shot that only gaslights fans of the series. Isekai is a genre chocked full of Sue-type characters because it is used by Japan as an escape/coping mechanism because many people in Japan and around the world are dissatisfied with daily life right now. Anyway, I hope we can keep disagreements civil.

With this second season, I am beginning to think that Yuri Kitayama’s original light novel series is simply a poor fit for animated adaptation.― With this second season, I am beginning to think that Yuri Kitayama's original light novel series is simply a poor fit for an animated adaptation. Below are series that weren't just disposable and annoying; they failed so spectacularly that we couldn't stop thinking about it. ANN's critic choices are based on loose criteria for "worst;" below are series our writers found wholly disappointing despite initial first impr...

There's no pretending this harem anime is particularly good, but it's rewarding to see it recover from a disastrous start and rise up to something decent.― There are anime that blend heart-warming wholesomeness with something more lewd. One case is Your Name, a chastely yearning love story with jokes about boob-groping, and arguably non-consensual boob-groping at that. Then there are shows like Dan ...

More kinetic than Legend of the Galactic Heroes (but sharing its naval theme) and less frenetic than Macross, Yamato strikes a good middle ground for exciting animated space warfare.― Much like that other pillar of classic anime space sci-fi, Macross, the Space Battleship Yamato franchise experienced a frustrating journey to Western TV screens.
