So does this mean it will adapt stories from the manga series?

I mean that was pretty much a given but it was nice to get a confirmation.Given the nature of the original series ofc it's gonna have lots of self contained(original) episodes and it won't be a 1:1 adaptation, that would have been the worst decision in this type of series

Technically, the main storyline of Cowboy Bebop is only 6 or 7 episodes - everything else is already an expansion of the CB universe
So there's room to maneuver and still fit into the storyline
Heck, they made a whole movie Knockin' on Heaven's Door that fit into the storyline!
(If ya can fit a 2-hr movie between ep #22 & #23, that's a lot of room in the episode gaps ya can fill in)

SPIKE: We won’t make that “Betamax or VHS” mistake again.
JET: Nope.
SPIKE: So do we bring back an Ultra HD or Blu-Ray player?

I'm fine with changes... just don't drop the ball. Garbage in beebop clothing is still garbage.

I really hope this flops. If it does it may convince Netflix to stop making live action remakes of anime

Are people saying this show is canon to the anime? Because that makes no sense. I don't mind if they make some original stories, actually that would be better than recycling the stories from the anime. Though I hope they don't try to overexplain some things, I don't think it's necessary to show Spike's past, a great part of his character is that we don't see much of his past save from flashback scenes without dialogue, they don't have to make a flashback episode where we see how he met Vicious and Julia, and things that happened in the Red Dragon Syindicate.

If Death Note didn't teach them- nothing will.

How do they intend to "continue" past the ending of the anime...considering how 3 of the characters they just told us the actors of are DEAD! DEAD. NOT INJURED....DEEEEEAAAAADDDDDDDDD.

Who said they'll continue past the ending of the anime?

I don't get why people are surprised. The anime only had 26 episodes, so there was no way they could turn it into a multi-season live-action drama with hourlong episodes without adding a lot of new material.

I mean even if it did it wouldn’t stop them from being made altogether by either the American or Japanese film industry.

I mean, obviously, they sort of have to if they're going to do hour-long episodes.

You do know Netflix already has a sequel for Death Note in the pipes, don't you?

Relax people. Best case is it turns out good and we have one of the rare exceptions of a good Anime adaptation. Worst case it's just another lousy Anime adaptation hat we forget about within a few years.
