New footage? This better be good, after all the criticism it has received about its 'incompleteness'. (Though I haven't got to watch it myself.)

It seems like they could have let GKids know they were going to make a theatrical version with more footage before dubbing the TV broadcast version.

The novel's publishing date is incorrect. It went on sale in 2012 and even the advanced review copies came out at the end of 2011, about 1/2 a year after her death.
I'm curious about whether the version in theaters internationally is the tv version of the film or whether it already includes the extra footage

Not to mention they’re releasing the Blu-ray rather soon, which means they’ve probably already been pressed with the TV version. I wish they waited to release the Blu-ray until after Japan so that they could get bonus stuff like that...

Maybe they'll later release an edition with a dub of the theatrical version.

I took my nine year old nephew to see it last Sunday at a Fathom event. We loved it. Afterwards there was like over 10 minutes of film production. The main character manipulates adults, which can be annoying, but you truly feel she’s not being a jerk, more intuitively wise for her age, so adults treat her differently. It’s really a fun movie, sort of a “Ransom of Red Chief”. I have to say I’d almost like to see a sequel, because of how it ended.
I have not read the book.
