If you search "Warner" for companies, you get this.
animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/search/name?only=company&q=Warner Many of these are empty, others are not, and many have hardly anything in them. I was recently looking through my contribution history, and noticed that my submissions for Danmachi II, the Danmachi II OVA, and Danmachi III, which had "Warner Bros." for "Production" were replaced with "Warner Bros. Japan". This is inconsistent with the entry for Danmachi, and the Danmachi movie which simply have "Warner Bros." The Danmachi S1 OVA uses "Warner Bros. Home Entertainment". The spin-off, Sword Oratoria also has just simply "Warner Bros.". Disclaimer, I'm the one that submitted the production committee info for the Danmachi movie and Sword Oratoria. This as you can see makes things a bit of a mess. I went with "Warner Bros." because it was consistent with what was already entered for S1 and its OVA, and the "Warner Bros. Japan" entry didn't have much submitted to it as most people use simply "Warner Bros.". It's worth noting Sentai Filmworks' credit rolls use "Warner Bros. Japan" for the Danmachi franchise. So, how should Warner Bros. be handled? Should we have separate entries for Warner Bros. US and Warner Bros. Japan, or should they all be merged into one, with the distinction of "Anime with which this company was involved: (Japanese version)/(English version)" being good enough? |
