Oh, I actually do have experience with journalism. This means I can apply! But I I'm only a high school sophmore and I doubt I could work full time without missing school.

With that, so does the number of disappointed teens who thinks they can write good.

I'm not trying to be discrimating toward teenagers, and I am one myself, but it's a bit naive to assume that you have even a remotely good chance of getting the job unless you're an experienced journalist (read: college degree + work experience), or just a darn good writer.

Term: Full time, contract, semi flexible schedule. Must be available to start work at 8am Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday. After 8am, schedule is flexible. Work from home.

Pay rate: $24k + Annual salary will be a minimum of $24,000. Base salary will be determined by qualifications and skill set. Monthly bonuses on top of base salary. Vacation time, computer allowances and approved expenses paid.

Job description / Responsibilities: The associate news editor will be responsible for identifying, writing and following-up on news stories of interest to North American and international anime and manga fans. The associate news editor will answer directly to Anime News Network's editor in chief but will also be expected to work with other editors.

Requirements:

Degree in journalism or a related field and/or equivalent experience;

A love of anime;

A “nose for news”; AP style writing skills; Well organized and detail oriented; Ability to think and work independently;

Reliability;

Aptitude to understand and quickly observe editorial trends.

Additional Skills that will be viewed positively:
• Ability to read Japanese;

• Located in or near New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas or Houston;

• Prior experience working with anime or manga;

• Prior experience writing about entertainment media;

• Willingness to travel to at least 1 anime convention per year;

• Basic HTML skills.

Actually, we already have some extremely acceptable candidates.
