I assume Japan sinks would make a better movie than a series because it will need to cut out all the dumbshit and fix the pacing issues it has and maybe have some consistent character development instead of being just disaster porn entertainment.

The series left a bad taste in my mouth. Not only was it not anything special, it just wasn't good. It's like he finally got around to watching Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and thought "An earthquake! That's a great idea for an anime.". But then he got consumed with the prospect of one-upping Tokyo Magnitude, which caused Japan Sinks to truly sink.

The biggest tragedy in this anime wasn't the earthquakes. The script, art and Yuasa's direction was the true disaster.

Yuasa isn't the only director. Another director is a young korean woman. This is her directive debut. The young screenwriter and character designer are also their debut. |
