Mr Watanabe wrote part 1 of "Nippon Anime Sôseiki"; the other parts were written by Matsumoto Natsuki and by me.

Are any of these works available in English translation?

No. Only my part in "Nippon Anime Sôseiki" is available in English as "Animated Film in Japan until 1919" (ISBN: 978-3-7448-3052-2). See also http://litten.de/abstrtoc/abstr7.htm |

Sorry, I forgot that an essay by Mr Watanabe on "The Japanese Walt Disney: Masaoka Kenzo" is available in English in the book "Japanese Animation: East Asian Perspectives", edited by Masao Yokota and Tze-yue G. Hu (University Press of Mississippi, 2013). |
