I'm surprised CR didn't go with Sentai Filmworks as their fallback distributer. I don't really see how Sentai fits in in this new NA anime industry landscape. Funi and CR are battling it out for your streaming and home video dollars, Amazon has largely pulled out of the anime business, Netflix seems to be moving to produce their own anime rather than licensing it, and Discotek covers the niche market.

Wonder what will be Crunchyroll x Viz Media's first Blu-ray together? Konosuba Season 1 or The Rising of the Shield Hero Part 1?
That aside, I think starting with the Winter 2019 anime, Viz Media could be releasing the stuff dubbed by Bang Zoom! (and probably Crunchyroll streaming both sub and dub), while Funimation will release the stuff they dub (and if Funimation streams the dub, and Crunchyroll streams the sub). That's my educated guess. |

Does this mean Viz will dub and release home video for all future Crunchyroll titles or only that they will co-stream some shows that Viz licenses? Will Crunchroll have full access to Viz's library? Will they able to stream the 90s Sailor Moon anime or is that still under Hulu's exclusive contract? I also wonder if this is related to Yahoo View shutting down as that probably provided Viz a lot of support from casual anime fans who don't subscribe to a ton of streaming services so they turned to Crunchyroll as a new alternative.

I am hoping Viz Media could add Pokemon anime (in the dubbed, edited version) titles into the CR for sure. I have always keep watching Pokemon anime illegally since Pokemon never gets dubbed and aired in my country there, so i am keep rooting for it!

The master licensor is The Pokémon Company International. Viz Media just distributes. It won't work like that. |

Sentai seems to be cozing up to Netflix. They're responsible for the dub of 7Seeds and presumably the CG Saint Seiya. My guess is that this agreement will lead to them getting home video rights in the future. |

Do note that HiDIVE is part of VRV. The way I read it is just CR is just tapping Viz to distribute the shows CR licensed. Sentai still has HiDIVE as its streaming site arm. Do note that Sentai/HiDIVE is starting to acquire more regions for their recent licenses (sometimes on par with CR's Worldwide ex Asia) in contrast to FUNi's scope (US, CA, UK, IR, AU, NZ). |

Konasuba is old news... And Crunchyroll has been pushing Shield Hero so hard it's practically been deafening. |

Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya was dubbed by VSI. |

^Netflix's page for the show says otherwise because it lists 3 Houston VAs.
Either way I doubt it'll lead to Sentai getting home video for Seiya though if this is anything like CG Captain Harlock was. Last edited by NJ_ on Wed Jul 03, 2019 3:51 pm; edited 2 times in total |

People talking about KonoSuba and Shield Hero, and I'm sitting here excited about finally having a chance to bring Gabriel DropOut home.

Any proof of that? As NJ_ pointed out, Netflix's page for the series lists a handful of Texas voice actors. I know ANN's encyclopedia lists them for the English dub, but it also lists two LA actors that seems to have been nonsense. All dubs of 7Seeds was done by BTI ... except the English version, which was done by Sentai. I wouldn't be surprised if Seiya is the same, just with VSI instead. |

This partnership makes sense because of the Warner connection. I hope Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju and Laid-Back Camp are released soon.
