Awesome! I've wanted to play the games but I don't have the consoles needed, nor the money to buy said consoles. Nevertheless, with this I'll be able to experience Ni no Kuni like I've always wanted to!

I wonder why they couldn't get Studio Ghibli to do the movie and get Miyazaki to direct. I mean, Ghibli did do the cutscenes for the first game after all.

Miyazaki was never involved with Ni no Kuni in the first place, and he’ll be busy with his own movie until 2021 at least probably.

I don't see Ghibli ever working with Akihiro Hino, he is a sup-par writer.

Seems like people may not have realized this but this movie is very unrelated to any of the games. In fact, the first and second games are completely unrelated to each other as well even though they supposedly take place in the same worlds.

Yes, as someone who played the second game but hasn't gotten around to the first (NnK2 still has a distinctly faux-Miyazaki Ghibli look to it, even including a village that looks like the cast of Sherlock Hound wandered into the bathhouse-city from Spirited Away), I wondered what "plot" of the game they were going to use--
And since the boy and girl weren't in either game, I suspected we were in for another Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within, where the screenwriters make up any original canon-related crap that satisfies the software-company producers.
And one FF:TSW was bad enough.
