She's only the director? I thought she would at least be the president. Unless she has other siblings?
Well, at least the style is cute! ^^'

I'm pretty sure it's her brother, Makoto Tezuka, who runs Tezuka Pro.

The drawings look cute, though. People who have a problem with stuff like this are just stuck up...
The only problem is that they need to do more cute boy versions of things.
(. . . . what happened to Palette Parade? Is that still happening, or...?)
Ideally, someone will do a series with cute boys and cute girls. There's Code Geass and Fate, but those are sort of the only ones. We need more pansexual fanservice series.

I think it's less a case of being "stuck up" and more like similar reactions here in the US, where there have been vociferous complaints over say, the new version of She-Ra. Fans who grew up on these shows tend to look upon them with nostalgia when they get older (like when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s I loved watching Speed Racer).
So when some executive decides they will put out an updated version of the show and also decides to change either the look, gender, race, etc. of the character some of these people will decide that there are terrible, horrible things being done to their childhood.
Myself? I have a couple of DVDs of Speed Racer and many DVDs of other shows I remember fondly from my youth. If someone wants to do anything new with the characters, then let 'em. I still have my DVDs that I can go back to anytime I want my nostalgia fix.
And if the revision looks good, then I'll likely watch that too!

Quote: | The revealed cast and characters include (from top to bottom in image below) Kaori Ishihara as Phoenix (from Phoenix), Rie Kugimiya as Atom/Astro Boy (from Astro Boy), and Nao Tōyama as Black Jack (from Black Jack), drawn by artists Takuya Fujima, Tsunako, and Kei Nanameda, respectively. |
And don't forget the Kimba and Unico girls in the group shot.

I think this is a good start for Tezuka to branch out. I'm a huge fan of Tezuka's work and when I visit Japan I hate not seeing anything of Tezuka, compared to Ghibli. Tezuka deserves just as much expose and more.
