I wish Funi would release a box set of all the OVAs on BD. Otherwise $162 sounds like a rather decent import.

Did they every dub the prequel OVAs, the ones set during WWII, I had one included in the BD, but it was sub-only

Not the first time...a couple of years back, NBC Universal released the El-Hazard OVA on Japanese Blu-ray, including the old US Pioneer English dub. And seeing how the US and Japan share the same Blu region code, I had no qualms about ordering it.

This would make for an interesting conversation on those -chan boards. That is, does a native Japanese person who has a good knowledge of English prefer the Eng. dub over the Japanese version? |

What I would like to know is if that Dub is 5.1 Dolby Digital or if its 5.1 HD. There have been other Japanese releases that have an English dub, but they aren't always HD. The website is not specific on it. If it did the regular box set, if its chipboard not a paper slipbox, would interest me.

$16 per OVA is a good price, even if the English BDs are cheaper over here, it's not a bad deal at all. |

Hellsing: The Dawn right? Not only did they not dub them but the last 2 episodes are missing from their IX-X box set. Also missing from that release is the Drifters short OVA that was included with X's release in Japan. |

It would be cool if it were english from Japanese voice actors, that is, english with Japanese accent would be very cool to listen too.
English dubbs are a good tool to learn english actually. Specially because in english dubbs the voice acting tends to follow grammatically correct english with clear pronunciation. Why is there even a Subs VS Dubs debate here? Some people like subs, some people like dubs, neither person is wrong. There's various reasons why someone might prefer subs or dubs and it all changes per person, lots of different factors.
There's a lot of well liked Japanese voice actors/actresses in Japan, a lot of well liked English voice actors/actresses in America. Some people like hearing a series/movie in their native language, some people like hearing a series/movie in the language that the series/movie originated from. It's all preferences so can we please move on and not have another one these pointless arguments? |
