Shinji Nishikawa also worked on the kaiju designs for 4 of the early 2000s Godzilla films. Studio Tsuburaya is named after Eiji Tsuburaya, a co-creator of Godzilla and main creator of the "Ultra" franchise. Thus, this is perhaps the closest we will get to an official Ultraman and Godzilla cross-over in anime.
There is defiantly a nostalgia-driven angle here for Godzilla, Ultraman, and "Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad" fans. Heck, I think the production companies specifically had those fans in mind when making this series. |
