Makes sense after listening to it. Basically nothing for the other members of X JAPAN to do. no Toshi vocals. No epic guitar from Sugizo.

edit: https://shingeki.tv/season3/music/op.php (along with the video itself) confirms it's YOSHIKI feat. HYDE and not "featuring". Minor detail.

This song doesn't match any of the emotion in the accompanying video. I'm not sure what they're going for here.

Most of the video are just clips from the season 3 trailer. I guess they just wanted to showcase the opening song but didn't want to insert new footage as the show's starting really soon.

The OP sounds really good. My only concern is what sort of animation's going to accompany it. The song's really slow and what we got was 39 seconds already,

My guess is that the tv cut wont be exactly as showcased in the preview. Im very happy to listen HYDE vocals on anime again. Was rlly tired of linked horizon's recycled songs, so this is a good change of pace.

...And my doubts reinforced. Might have to give it one last try with the first ep tomorrow, but it doesn't seem to have the feel or impact Linked Horizon's OPs have

That's probably the point. Without spoiling too much, the upcoming arc is a rather subdued, more personal arc compared to the big and bombastic previous arcs, so they were probably aiming for that kind of tone. Don't worry though: the season should also cover the following arc, which is also big and bombastic.

Well, looks like the unwritten rule of "One doesn't skip an Attack on Titan opening" is about to be broken.

Sounds more like an ED to me. Doesn't hold a candle to the Linked Horizon ones and doesn't fit the tone of the show at all imo.

If the season is 24 eps, they had better change it up halfway through.

Now that I've watched it I agree. I know the arc they are going into isnt a bombastic one, but still this one doesn't fit as well as Linked Horizon. As for the length I think it is only supposed to be 12, so we wont have to worry there. They seem to be going for single cours now so the manga has a chance to stay ahead
