12 theme song artists |
But...but...I only count 10! Has the definition of 12 changed while I was away? Maybe they're still going to announce more, maybe some of these are going to sing two songs, or maybe there will only be 10 episodes then?
[Edit] Anyway, I'm glad Porno Graffiti and TM Revolution is part of the line up. And it's going to be Mika Nakashima's first new anime song in a while. I'm not too familiar with the others, since this is their first anime gig. Looking forward to it.

Wow, I do recognize a good chunk of these, mainly from other anime/live action.
I'm excited to seeing L'arc~en~ciel doing an anime theme song again though. D:
Last time was...Full Metal Alchemist?

I mean.. sure, this is really cool, but.. it's confirmed that it'll be 12 episodes then? TMS is doing fairly well with how they adapt stuff, but.. they will get NOWHERE with just that. Looking back at Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa, which was pretty well done in terms of its adaptation (even though the changes in the last 2 episodes were unnecessary), but also got nowhere with just these 12 lil' EPs~.. The english TL of the ReLife web manga is on chapter 132 now and I don't even see any point in the story at which they could stop in a at-least-somewhat-satisfying manner. Since we're talking about TMS here, a 2nd season COULD be a thing, but I won't get my hopes up.

Sorry about that, two of the artists were accidentally omitted from the article. We've added them back in.

Wow, this list. Takes me back so far. I used to listen to most of these artists in high school and college. Can't wait to hear the music for ReLife. This is really a perfect storm for me as I like ReLife as a series and still follow the manga/webcomic.

The most plausible point for me would be the end of the summer, with a potential second season waiting for the end of the year.

Sorry but this is blatant lying, those artists are there because they are ones Sony is looking to promote unless main character dude only listens to Sony music sponsored artists.
Incidentally way too get even more bloody ridiculous, bullshitty and blatant with shilling your artists Sony. They're like the Donald Trump of this industry, so entirely self-serving and making every project all about serving their own commercial interests. Beyond over the top for the past several years and still finding new ways to hit that next level. They've abandoned literally all pretenses of actually being in anime for the sake of animation and people still can't see it which is the amazing part even through all the bald faced lying and acting like anything they do has anything to do with caring about the products, characters and people they are put in charge of marketing beyond the potential to make money off of it for themselves.
I'm also really disappointed in TMS lately too. They have the history and the pedigree to make some really good non-commercial stuff and promote anime abroad, have been in this industry since the 60's with iconic titles like Lupin, A Dog of Flanders and Ashita no Joe in their catalogue and they just completely sold out to Sony like a lot of other industry entities for seemingly no reason. Other upstart smaller studios I get it, but TMS who scored a deal with the Italian TV industry all on their own with the recent Lupin III it just baffles me. Anyway it's just hard for me to care about or take this industry seriously any longer the way it's all about pushing music and self-interest now. Other people see so much good but I just see an industry that's just too bought and paid for now and it's killing creativity and potential for anything to break out or the industry to grow or thrive as an artform again like it did in the 80's and 90's. It goes beyond the means of looking out for financial solvency at this point too, especially when plenty of other recent titles have shown that despite how it looks you don't need to sell out to a big producer to get by.

After Fullmetal Alchemist they also did Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Seirei no Moribito.
