Sad. Was actually enjoying the LN on J-novel. Will probably never even get to catch up since they license by volume, so I doubt they'll be able to license the missing ones.

yeah, and think that Japan lowered its head to China even after the author apologized,

now is it only a matter of time for the Chinese to attack other works that they do not consider appropriate?

I mean most LN authors don't call Chinese people sub human (Or at the very least make sure they dress their bigotry in "neutral" language), so no?

Something like The Irregular at Magic Highschool? That one is quite racist and is kinda displaying China as the evil Russian guy in most of the James Bond movies lol

On the other hand, I don't think that this would happen since Mahouka is such a money maker. But that's the difference between having the author having really old not so nice tweets and a light novel written by another author that is quite racist but makes money.

Sure is nothing at all weird about a bunch of people registering only to post in these threads about this third-rate isekai novel and posting racist dogwhistles about China

Yes. It's truly unbelievable that there could still be consequences for the things you say even after you apologize for something. Everyone knows that forgiveness is an automatic right as soon as the words "I'm sorry" are uttered.

what destroyed Nidome was the lack of a strong japanese fanbase, Mahouka and Gate survived because of this, would Golden Kamuy be canceled if the russians were to say that they felt offended with the story on Twitter?

The series was mediocre, with a mediocre fanbase, and the author was racist, adds to the fact that the japanese are considered cowards and that China consumes more animes than Japan itself.

The problem now is, this set a precedent, and a good story can be affected in the future.

as said earlier, many Chinese isekai authors disparage the Japanese, as have some Korean authors, they have had their lives destroyed? Not that I know

the author is a racist, if he committed a crime then he should be arrested. But because discountin the work? that as they have said was very light in content.

Lovecraft is a racist worse than author, and his works are read and reverenced in the world. In works of fiction there should be no censorship.

Then those Chinese LN authors would also face fierce opposition if their work were to be widely available in Japan.

The issue isn't really this LN effectively being killed by Chinese sensibilities. It's the fact that it sets a precedent of Chinese sensibilities affecting other Japanese fictional works, sometimes for the worse. It's why the Ancient One in Doctor Strange is white; apparently, making the character Tibetan like in the comics would be too controversial in China (and would lead to less Chinese ticket sales presumably).

I don't care about this LN in particular, but it could lead to a situation where an anime or fictional Japanese work I do like is affected.
