So you get to live a real-life Shirobako, work with Ikuhara and get paid for it? They might be fielding applications from around the world!

I loved Penguindrum, but I have to admit that I never finished Yurikuma Arashi. Not that it was bad, I just kind of already got the point a few episodes in. Still, it's good to see Ikuhara's Renaissance.

You can bet there will be lesbians
IAS, I am definitely looking forward to what he has in mind for a new anime. Yurikuma Arashi was kind of a letdown for me; it was good by anime standards but it felt too akin to Utena.

Ikuhara and MAPPA? Whatever it is, it's going to look gorgeous.

Anyone else think that Ikuhara saw Yuri!!! on Ice and that's what convinced him that this was the perfect place to make a new work?

Yeah, I'm hoping he goes outside his usual comfort zone of lesbians again like he did for Penguindrum. Yuri Kuma while good, often felt like it was retreading old ground covered better by Utena.

Hopefully its more Penguindrum and less Utena, wasn't really a fan of the latter.

Cool, Ikuhara is back. It makes a ton of sense for him to work with MAPPA. I love the Utena tv series and really, really like Penguindrum, but I want to see him do something different. I look forward to watching Ikuhara's next anime project at Anime Strike, where all MAPPA shows seem to go.

Yes, but it wasn't the main subject of a series again, It was about a lost disaffected youth of the 1990s and the bonds of family. That is what I mean.

That isn't guaranteed

Nope if only because it's Disney and Ikuhara is... unique to say the least. I doubt it would work.

With him, whom knows. I will say this much however... I doubt that. His thing is literally lesbians when it comes to homosexual sub/context, so if that was an inspiration it would be rather rare of him to step out of his thing.

I will be honest, I consider Yuri Kuma something of a passion project. Ikuhara has said for years that he always wanted to do a yuri show (apparently it something of a child hood dream of his), Kuma is that show... full stop. It more or less marks something off the bucket list for him.
