Wow. So CrunchyRoll actually changed their mind and decided to keep the unlocalized title? I think it was a good decision.

It's a linguistic expression that's so hard to pull off in English… your name. struggled with exactly the same thing in both its sub and especially its dub (which basically replaced the joke outright). "Magical Girl Boy" expresses the concept, at least, but it doesn't have a real zing to it either (if anything, it's too blunt).
I'll always prefer an official English title, out of both convenience and respect for those involved, but if Crunchyroll decides to step back from "Magical Girl Boy", that's fine with me.

I'm with you 100%. If you could call the 'it' of the series a 'twist', "Magical Girl Boy" is also kind of spoiler-esque.
