I think their strategy is just fine. Only entitled anime fans that feel they need everything immediately are complaining. With Netflix releasing over 30 anime titles this year alone there will be plenty of content to keep people occupied. I on the other hand don't mind the wait in addition to many other fans that I know feel the same way too.

Well, those two posts kinda already covered the entire argument that usually ensues every time Netflix announces they're still being Netflix. So... are we done?
In any case, we have not yet reached the level of capitalist techno-dystopia at which piracy is punishable by death, so we've got that going for us, which is nice.

Good for Netflix, I guess. Looking forward to this new anime.

Would rather see weekly uploads of episodes ala Violet Evergarden had (for most regions anyways...), but I guess the binge model of uploading is ultimately more convenient for Netflix to do.

That might only be because as usual, Netflix has to compete with TV stations in Japan. Not even AT-X which is paid for station dedicated to anime has exclusivity (at most, they only get first airings).
I am also sure that LIDEN films and DWANGO will not want to limit themselves to just one outlet even if Netflix paid a premium since sponsors for the show are looking to advertise to wider otaku audiences. But given that anime is only viewable by streaming licenses in most of the west, Netflix can outbid other licensors here.

I imagine that it is purely a rights question. I don't have a broad knowledge of how the contracts between the anime studios, netflix and the national broadcasters are, but I think they want to reserve the rights to show it first.
Additional its a good meter to gauge the reaction of the public, before they put energy in dubbing a particular series (which also takes time).
The most curious thing is why indeed Violet Evergarden seems to be outside the norm, and dirctly accessible in more countries.
On the bright side, I'm happy they even stream it outside of Japan

Yeah, like I'm going to wait for them. Not only do they deliver it late but their video quality is abysmal. It late, it costs money and looks terrible. They can't get anything better then piracy. At least Amazon looks great.

Like most Netflix shows the story sounds boring and the animation looks awful. So I have no issue waiting till later this year to be horribly disappointed and stop watching after the 2nd episode.

Lol at some of these comments. The cringe is strong. Not even speaking about the entitlement.
Anyway, I'll wait for it to come out myself. Netflix releases so much stuff right now, that it is almost hard to keep up with it all. So with everything else coming out I don't even see why I would go out of my way to pirate it.

This does not bother me with shows no one seems to care about. I will probably never watch Lost Song.

I rather see no weekly streaming in any region outside Japan than weekly streaming only in some territories.

Even in high debt, I would imagine Netflix they has more than enough $ to stream their recent anime licenses (within the last 12 months) to have weekly simulcasts for most of their territories.
