Given the nature of these kinds of shows (cute girls doing cute things or whatever), I can sadly say this is probably the case.

Oh I don't like sports shows =) the cute girls doing cute things is the only draw for me. And yuri would just make it that much better.

Blasphemy, no yuri tension is unnecessary! Having said that, I remember looking into the manga at some point and didn't get too many chapters in as I found it just boring. All it appeared to have going for it was bikinis and bouncing... beach balls. The rest seemed typical sports melodrama. And lots of sweating now that I think about it.

Well, regardless of what it ends up being more of, this looks like it could be a fun watch and would be great if it were to air during the Summer. Hopefully, the execution (which is always key and shouldn’t be ignored) of this can allow it to be an engaging watch.

My enjoyment of any sports anime is all depends on the animation. if its as good as this

The production studio for this will be C2C, and the director is a literal who (he directed the Berserk movies). That should give you a clue.

If the sports melodrama is on par with other popular sports shows with the female viewers, that shouldn't be too bad.

The best part of this being about girls' beach volleyball is that the "fanservice" is intrinsic.

Ping Pong Girls was one of the most entertaining sports anime of the past few years, so it's not like yuri undertones take anything away on its own, unless of course you have a prejudice to that content.
