Eren's not even really my favorite character. I just find it weird that he's never been #1 considering the story's about him. 
This may have something to do with his earlier personality. People should see how he is now. |

This is about right. Just about any of the side characters are more interesting to read about than Eren, Mikasa, and Armin.

The nature of the pole might be with the voter base that may only be caught up with the most recent season.
spoiler[Character wise Reiner is the most strongly developed character at this point of the manga, considering the shift in focus he IS in Eren's spot as Eren has effectively become what the world recognizes as the "greatest threat to peace". As for Erwin? yeah, becoming a Martyr in a well liked story will boost your popularity.] |

I think Eren's rank will surely rise after the spoiler[time skip] polls.
He is much more mature and cold-blooded now. Just look at the chapter 100 and you'll understand. |
