I will say, the coverage from ANN for King's Game has been entertaining. I dropped the show after episode 3 due to a combination of stupid writing, rules of a game that were poorly explained and/or shifting, and attempts to be edgy just for its own sake.

Meanwhile, Alice in Borderland (Imawa no kuni no Arisu) is still stuck with 3 OVAs and no TV announcement.

It took me far too long to figure out that "his" wasn't referring to Natsuko.

Of course she knows diddly. When the manga featuring her story started they were already in the middle of the game and unlike ol Nobu she didn't try to solve it. She was more focused on her survival which drove her to insanity after she was forced to kill someone and her crush ended up dying too...because reasons. And thus cray cray Natsuko was born.
But what the hay. When I realized long ago that the writing was about as bad as my high school essay that got a C I decided to stick to it for the gore and to see how far these guys would go for survival but on the way I also learned that despite the writing it had some entertaining narrative that the anime change or glossed over and decent horror moments especially the prequel which, IMO, was the best written out of all the KG stories

It does escape me why gore appeals to anyone. Is the sense of disgust a source of endorphins, akin to the pain-like sensations produced by strong spices? I can only shrug and concede that to be satisfied by something horrifying—which may or may not be the case for this series—is to be disposed so very differently to me.

Its hard to describe the feeling but I dont find it satisfying in a way a sadist or a gore fetishist does. I just find it entertaining but thats probably because its fiction. Now if the gore involved real people like in combat sports like MMA, boxing or pro wrestling or in real life accidents or crimes the feeling Id get is very different and it would actually put me off a little.
I guess its probably because I grew up studying MMA back in the late 80s and early 90s so violence and blood doesnt faze me like it would to some cos I got accustomed to it. Maybe I just find KG's gore entertaining in the way many find it funny though I dont get much of the same feeling from better written horror series like Another or Corpse Party

I don't really drop series, but I stopped watching King's Game after the 1st episode. 6 weeks later I was pretty bored, so I tried the 2nd episode and then ended up binging the next 5 too. It's not a good series by any means, but it's so entertaining. The amount of bs they pull is spectacular, and ridiculous scenes like the attempted love-suicude or the hacking scene are hilarious. Not to mention the gore, which is so over-the-top you can't help but laugh at it all.
There are definitely much better written and animated series this season. I'm watching them too. But King's Game is the series you watch because it's so bad it's good. I don't know what the hell is happening, and I don't care!

If you look far away and squint hard enough at the image for this article on the sidebar, it looks like it's Rias strangling Issei.

This sounds wild. Who makes decisions on what source material to adapt into anime? I think they need a tsukkomi (comedic straight man) to their boke (funny man), to hit them over the head with a paper fan.

It is funny because it is just so dumb, that this is an actual professional show, but it has all of the trappings of something very amateur, which the writing came from. That it tries to be edgy with twists, character writing and gore, and yet it just does not work.

I was liking the show at first, in a "This is stupid fun," kind of way, but I dropped it within three or four episodes. All of the focus on flashbacks where we already know the outcome to everything just completely kneecaps the show and tonally it's all over the map, plus any time it looks like it's actually going to commit to going full dark and really twisting people it just proceeds to never bring whatever just happened up again. It really feels like the show has absolutely no idea what it wants to be.
Then there's the reveal on what the King is and... God, that's like the Dog ending of Silent Hill 2 played straight. Just, what?
And how on earth did that one girl write a message in the sand immediately after going blind?

Its actually not that hard. I was able to write a few words albeit a little crooked on the sand while properly blindfolded when I went to the beach years ago and her dying message wasnt exactly a full paragraph
