Just couldn't win out against Megami in the shrinking print market, it seems!

Nooooooo! This is sad news as they had some fantastic pinups Sad At least we still have Megami but it's sad to see Nyantype go. Maybe that means Megami will get larger or have more releases? (Doubt it but one can hope)

Yet bishounen and male seiyuu magazines are expanding... signals a good shift in the anime market. Just hope it carries over in the West, fujoshi/otome titles are so ignored here.

Surprising, I expected that after going bi-monthly it'd be able to continue, especially given that their main competition, Megami, seemed to be struggling hard, with issues about 1/4 as big as they were when Nyantype first started competing with them.

It's a sign of the times unfortunately, there are going to be casualties of the changing markets.

Yeah.... I knew it was coming. First they went from monthly to once every two months. Then they cut the number of illustrations in half. Sad to see them go. Issue number 89 will be their last. Archived the entire collection.

Megami, you'd better not die. Where else am I going to get those sexy pinups?

It's pretty much signaling the end of print in the manga and other entertainment industries in Japan, it' time to go digital. I also don't like the balance shifting to fujoshi, no good is going to come out of that.

I see nothing wrong with the female demographic in general getting more attention with things like bishounen and otome games. They have money to spend and the market's adjusting to that. But I definitely agree with you about fujoshi. I have nothing against BL in general. It's just.... the fans......

I used to get a magazine subscription despite being across the globe. Now I just have a big ol' box of them. I don't have any regret, just became hard to justify collecting a magazine, especially when weighed against collecting other things.

I think its gonna be hard to keep afloat a magazine that purposefully narrows its audience. This'll probably prevent a bishounen magazine filling up the gap a bishoujo magazine makes. I think the anime industry is great because it call fill all sorts of niches, but on the other hand I think we're becoming divided due to having too many options at one time.

Shared experiences are part of culture, so while I mourn the loss of an individual magazine, I can see some benefit with fewer publications. Now we need a few fewer shows.

I don't get some of these comments bishoujo and bishonen are focused towards two completely different demographics it's not like there competing. I mean why not root for the success of both? Also seems more likely that the print media industry is changing I wouldn't be surprised if we continually see more articles like this through next year. I remember seeing an article awhile ago about how print sales are seeing huge drops while digital sales are rising.

My large stack of Dengeki G's Magazine -- where the G literally stands for "girls and games" -- would like to argue against your premise. The loss of Nyantype is a bummer, but this audience is still awfully well-served.

Unfortunate for this happen. I'm sure many fans of the magazine are saddened by this. With that said... OMG! Togo on that magazine cover. LAWD! Thank you invalidname for being cultured.
