Mia is not really a new character, since she was the protagonist of Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future and appeared previously in the first PriPara movie as well as being the number one character to appear (along with the other members of Saints) in PriPara episode one through TV footage. Her reappearance was hinted in episode 18 of Idol Time PriPara with Shion revealing to have found notes signed with Mia's catchphrase and "Mi" in a circle.
What's also worth mentioning is that the visual initially uploaded to the TV Tokyo website for Mia had "Hanazono" as her family name, the same as Shuuka. It was since updated to this image, while the article here strangely has the original one, amusingly called "mia.png.jpg" on the ANN server. The new image doesn't give Mia a family name at all (in Dear My Future, it was Ageha), probably indicating that it's a parallel version of Mia and not the exact same character as in the Dear My Future canon. This fits, as the first PriPara movie established the unit Saints in PriPara does not comprise the exact same characters as their respective Pretty Rhythm series (Aira additionally being the protagonist of the original, Aurora Dream, and Naru being the proganist of Rainbow Live). |
