A bit generic imo but better than I had expected. They're adding some original content to this but so far, I think it's fine. Action, comedy, and even the animation looks decent and I find Benio + Rokuro's relationship to be rather amusing.

The second episode's animation felt a little jarring even: the first episode felt like it was going for style, with the different backgrounds during the battles and etc, but on the second episode it just felt extremely cheap and inconsistent, with the real world as background. The amount of flashbacks too was annoying, and the characters predictable, so the second episode was a real big step down for me because the one (big) strength was lost, and all I was left with was a dull, unoriginal story.

I'm enjoying the show so far, but it would be nice to see a hint of originality at some point. It'll be interesting to see if the enthusiastic direction can continue drawing attention away from the rampant tropiness.

The shows biggest strength aside from the duo's dynamic is its strong direction. Tomohisa Taguchi really knows what he's doing here which is great because the story itself is nothing special. He has rearranged so many scenes from the first two chapters, added some original content and removed too much expositional scenes in order to make sure the events flow naturally.
If any mangareader expects this to be a faithful or a panel by panel adaptation then I suggest you to drop it. The director mentioned it in an interview that he'll do his own thing in the anime but will be extra careful that it doesn't affect Rokuro and Benio's interaction. |

Came into this series blind and am pleasantly surprised to find it actually good. With the flood of mediocre magical school anime that seem to be popping up this and hero academia are the two shows saving the shonen genre for this season.
Its also unusual that I actually like the main character of a series like this as they so often end up as a really boring stereotypical character. |

That's fine as long as it makes for a better adaptation I think the way he rearranged the scenes so far makes for a mild build up and maybe he's just gonna let us have it after a few episodes if not then there's good material wasted I prefer manga so far and the familiar is a definite no no for me just is cheesy and un needed should've dedicated the money to better animation feels like they're trying to make it appeal more to a younger crowd early teens vs the mangas more mature feel overall i feel a train wreck coming for some reason I don't know why but I feel like this is gonna be one of those " could've been great anime if another studio adapted it " or even another director then again periott completely ruined one of my favorites and completely amazing story in Tokyo ghoul all these directors with their big heads and egos |

Wait, that thing wasn't in the source material? Who thought, "Yeah, this is what the show was missing!" It's been on screen for like 30 seconds and all of them were awful. I hope it dies by the end of episode 4.

It's actually designed by the author and is found in volume 6 of the manga. Now we don't know if it was him or the director who decided to add him in the anime. |

I know I'm hyped up for this, but any mistakes in the entire run can make me drop this, the protagonist is pretty much another stereotype, after all. But sounds like the director is adding new things into it, and it only made me want it more. Anyone who knows the interview link with him?

I like the visual style of the show -- it's bright & vivid, and the animation is smooth & fluid. However, the plot is quite average at best, to the point to could (and somewhat did) predict the next 5 minutes of the show, including the obvious "rile up the MC to impress the skeptics" trope, and the "all is well" afterwards (really? the head boss just called of those who died in that Calamity thing "trash" and the MC just let it slide, because it was part of a test).
I probably won't remember the show by its story. Side-note: the BGM is quite good, as well. |

is the story worth sticking around for ?
i like the action of this series-- seeing scryed or project arms from the guy's power the character design reminded me of blue exorcist-- another male character with fangs for teeth of sort |

The story average at best but there are times in manga where it does some pretty impressive things for a shonen. Story aside, the two main character's dynamic and the villains that have yet to be introduced are the best part of the manga. |
