Compared to The Animation, it seems like Crimson Moon didn't have nearly the same budget when it came to animating the armor. There is less detail, and unlike the previous series, the armor's face doesn't do things like react to when its wearer is yelling or being pummeled.

On the plus side, the more concentrated approach, meaning staying in one place the whole time, gives it a sense that the side characters matter more than they did in The Animation.

The show was a big waste of time. Not of the characters are all that interesting or have any real development. The episodic nature wasn't done all that well, which each episode always ending in a boring fight, which would always end in with the Horror getting killed in one hit. Then the villain was just a generic bad guy, who's main motivation was just 'embracing the darkness'. It had the pieces to be good,it just couldn't come together.

This show was a result of most of the people who made Cursed Seal of Flames (The first Garo anime with Leon and the others) working on the movie sequel (Divine Flame), which was just beautiful. I'm happy with forgetting this mistake of a show after that movie

which is why i would have given it a B- instead of a C. at least in this series they give some side characters some importance other than the watchdog and seimei who is pretty much the main steal of the series similar to leon's father herman ,which was why the episode reviewer gave her the nickname "sex mom".

sure while this series have its faults and its inferior to its predecessor , its definitely not a mediocre series. and most importantly, at least the main characters isnt one whose completely obsessed over revenge like leon was.

God, this show was aggressively mediocre in literally every way.

I dropped it after three episodes because it just had nothing that appealed to me like Crest of Flames did. The animation was trash, Seimei was the only character remotely approaching interesting, and the plot was scatterpoints on a graph with a coefficient of 0, which coincidentally is how many episodes of Crimson Moon I enjoyed watching.

I read the review thinking it covered the whole series (missed the "part 1" in the title), and while it's always a pleasure to read Rebecca's reviews, I kept expecting her complaints of part 1 (which I share) to build up to "wait--it gets better in part 2!" So...did anyone stick with the show long enough to find out? I pretty much bailed at the end of part 1, but I always wondered if part 2 gets better, and most importantly, if the show ever explained what Kintoki's deal was as an eternal child. It set up just enough mystery to bug me.

That said, the first Garo anime and its sequel movie were very good, and I would totally check out another Garo anime if its anything like (or shares any characters with) the first one.
