What a farce... Where's Conan? To leave an anime icon is just so totally wrong.

Attack on Titan wasn't even a thing yet when this picture was made (I've seen it on Google images years ago)

Are the posters above complaining about the image? I think the image was taken from some random wallpaper website to make the article more attractive, and by no mean representing the polling program itself.

I hope quality writing and storytelling, like FMA, takes the top. My faith in the anime fandom and my respect for this community has been on a steady decline ever since 2007 I wanna say, really hope people don't disappoint me even more by voting some moe crap above some classics. But I'll brace myself to lose faith even more lol..

The report claims that Shimokawa's "Imokawa Mukuzô Genkanban no maki" was the first anime in 1917. As I wrote back in 2013 in a research note - and as was reported in the Mainichi Shimbun on July 8th, 2013, though not on ANN - a contemporary Japanese source says that that film was the third Japanese animation film in 1917 and that it was shown only in April of that year. We don't know whether a Japanese animation film was shown in January 1917, as another contemporary source claims, but we can be pretty sure that Shimokawa's "Dekobô shingachô Meian no shippai" was shown in February 1917. At this stage it has to be called the earliest Japanese animation film for the cinema that we can be certain of.
The short loop film from ca. 1907, mentioned in the beginning of the report, was the first anime if we use that word as a synonym for Japanese animation in general.

The 70s? A lot of homages I see in Anime in the last 20 years seems to come from that area.
