The greed is real since it would have been cheaper to make a single season to finish the series.

Uhh didn't expect a 6part and the 1st gonna be 1year~ from now on guess each movie gonna be around 45~60mins long. Well seems like this way they will make more money instead of doing just another season with 12episodes

Extrapolating from past performance, we should expect these to remain in theaters until roughly April 2025.

...I for one am fine with this.

This should have been a new season..focusing on the tank international tournament...but no..they got greedy seeing how the movie did in both cinema and blu ray sales and said...lets divide them into six parts...we got more revenue from the masses than as a single season. Razz greedy Japanese.

"six-part theatrical event anime" does not automatically translate to "six full-length movies". There were cases of 30-minute "films."

Couldn't they have just made it into a 12-episode television anime?

I think this format is better for the studio and it's better for us too. Actas had scheduling problems with their TV shows. They had to delay episodes in the first season of GuP, they did it again with Regalia and now there is an episode delay for Long Riders too.

Yep exactly and seeing as it's listed as theatrical event anime I'm more inclined to believe it will be 30min an ep which would still be less runtime then a new 12 ep anime.

but hey ANN posters are experts on this matter and they obviously know the reasoning why the production committee is doing it this way and saying the Japanese are just greedy is obviously the correct answer. /sarcasm end Wink

Are we to take this as Actas embracing their inability to stay on a weekly schedule?

@MischievousMelody: It would be nice to have a general idea of how TV show budgets work since this series sold well really well. Making them 6 movies is somewhat time-efficient.

Im always up for more Girls Und Panzer. But yeah, six theatrical releasea sounds like they'll be 30 minutes to an hour like Broken Blade and Towanoquon. Well, as long as they have a nice budget for these ill be happy.

As long as the staff is the same I trust them to continue the quality of GuP. Hell, I'm excited that there's still plenty of tank action remaining. It took quite a few years for the Anzio OVA and then a few years after that before we got der Film.

I wonder if they'll try to sell the tickets for these showings priced at $15-$20 like a normal JP theater ticket. If so, that's pretty lame, honestly, and does strike me as a money thing. If they sell for less, or each of these are full length movies, that's a little better. The move toward theatrical releases has definitely been pretty significant lately, that's for sure. It's no doubt they see that's where a lot of the money is to be made.
