I just finished watching Bleach's Ep. 14 from last night's [adult swim] and I have a small question.

Uryuu was explaining why he hated the Soul Society so much because while they had been watching (spying) on his grandfather, they didn't come and help out when he was overwhelmed by Hollows.

What I was wondering about, if Uryuu and his grandfather were being watched, why DIDN'T the Soul Society come out and help or did "they" want to have Grandfather killed without dirtying their hands?

Obviously Ichigo knows nothing about this and I'm guessing that Ryukia doesn't either since (if I remember correctly, she didn't really know about Quincys either). Will the reason be explained in a later episode?

I've got to say, I'm enjoying the heck out of this so far! I'm looking forward to when the box sets start coming out. And yes, I'm getting ahead of myself in regards to that, but I made the mistake of buying individual disks with Inu Yasha and I'm not going to do that with Bleach. Besides, Geneon isn't usually stingy with the Extras in box sets like Viz is.

[EDIT: I'm turning this into the ANN thread to keep up with Bleach's [as] airing, among other things. Please use spoiler tags where needed. -TK]

The truth behind what happened with Uryuu's grandfather gets reveled around episode 43 or 44. (Yeah, I watched fansubs, but I'm deeply enjoying rewatching and will be buying official DVDs, when they hit box sets.)

Unless you really want spoilers, I'll leave it at that.

Viz is the group releasing Bleach. Geneon isn't involved as far as I am aware.

Cool! As long as it's answered that's fine with me.

**Small voice** Viz? Really? Oops!

I guess I just associate Jonny Yong Bosh with Geneon. Crap. Viz is lousy with naming the voice actors on the box sets. They do okay with the individual discs but the box sets... Rolling Eyes **sigh** I really don't want to buy individuals. No...I'm sticking with my original plan, The Box Sets. I'll get VA names from the best place around...ANN! Wink Very Happy

There are a few shows where I wait for the TV airing, rather than watch the fansub. Once I've started watching it on TV, depending on how the airing schedule goes, I'll wait for the weekly episodes. It's kinda fun waiting for that week's ep to air, I guess.

I did that with FMA, I'm currently doing it with Eureka Seven, & assuming Blood+ hits the air soon, I'll end up doing it with that one, too. In each of these instances I've already had a fansub copy of the series, I just hadn't made time to watch it before it began airing. But with Bleach, I've watched from one of the earliest fansub releases of ep 1, so I've been hooked on it for quite awhile already. I read the manga scanlations, watch the fansub episodes, watch the American TV airings, buy the dvd's, & watch those w/subtitles. I love me some Bleach. Laughing

Regarding the original question! spoiler[ I believe Ishida misunderstands what actually transpired w/his Sensei,] but all will be revealed in time.... Wink

[EDIT: Added spoiler tags just in case. -TK]

The instant I watch subs I become almost dead-set agains twatching dubs because the voices all sound horrible (even when they aren't poorly voiced) because they typically conflict with the Japanese voices that i get used to really quickly. The same is sometimes true if i watch a dub first (Inuyasha and Gundam SEED are two shows I'll never watched subbed).

And yeah, it gets answered. Unfortunately, Uryuu kinda goes downhill before it gets explained (he doesn't die or anything). Not that it's a major spoiler since it happens pretty much after the first bit with his game involving Hollows but spoiler[he becomes the comic relief. Which I found to be a massive (and i mean MASSIVE) let down since he starts out so amazingly badass.]

Although its not because i saw it dubbed first, i have some animes that i LOVE the dubs for (Ghost in the Shell S.A.C., FMA, Inuyasha and YES, Gundam SEED) the vs-ing is WONDERFUL for these IMO and i tend to each them dubbed more then subbed, they all just FIT the feeling of the show just as much if not more then the subs....

Sorry, if this is off topic but the mods directed this here. Does anybody know the name of the hollow that Kon & Ichigo fought together?

Animalia555, are you talking about the episode where Kon was introduced?

I don't think that hollow's name was ever mentioned. As far as I know a lot of the 'small fry' hollows are never given names.

When he starts fighting he returns to being a badass spoiler[(Especially when he takes off the spirit gauntlet to fight with Mayuri(sp?) and then just entirely obliterates him even after he uses his bankai)] but outside of combat he is sort of okay. Then when there is no real tension at all he winds up being very unfunny comic relief and that makes me sad.

Actually you can find out the names of a fair number of them. Acidwire (Orihime's broter) and Shrieker (Chad intro) are even mentioned in the Kon intro when Rukia tries to pay for items in Urahara's shop with bounties they are listed. also I was able to find out the names of the hollows that attacked Chad & Orihime during thier inital powerups from wikipedia. Chad's hollow was Bulbous G, while Orihime's was Numb Chandelier. But, I haven't been able to find out the name of he hollow that appeared in the Kon intro story. I am also looking for the name of the hollow that appeared in the Idiot, whoops, I mean Don Kanonji, intro, as well.
