Cool, I'll pick this up sometime. Silly raunchy sports comedy got some laughs out of me.

For a fairly obscure, 7-year-old show like this? Not likely.
I'm honestly surprised they went back and licensed this at all.

2016 - 2011 = 5-year-old show, though who knows, it might be 7 years old by the time it comes out. If other releases like Hidamari Sketch Honeycomb and Familiar of Zero F are any indication, anyway.

Well, at least it's a 16:9 show that theoretically has an HD version available. It's when they start getting stuff like Saint October or Futakoi or Rizelmine that we know they're truly hitting the bottom of the well. But the questions remain: will Sentai release this on BD, or will it be DVD-only like so many of their obscure/back-catalog sub-only releases? Will they actually get the DVD/BD version from the licensor? And will they release the six omake episodes with it?

I fail to see how licensing this title can be construed as desperation from Sentai. True, they license 1-2 older titles per month, but they have licenses for 40+ titles that aired within the last three years. They have plenty of stuff to release.

Sentai is usually pretty good at releasing stuff in a timely manner. The titles you cite are among the few exceptions.

Aw, but that will be when they start approaching the stuff that I'd love to see licensed. Admittedly, not the titles you mentioned, Zalis, but I know that the stuff that I really want to own on DVD are likely looked at as "bottom of the barrel" by most people.

Wonderful. This is such an underrated show. It starts off sort of weak but gets progressively weirder over the next couple episodes, becoming a very consistent comedy. It's basically a coherent full-length episode version of Teekyu.

Considering how sports anime of any sort have a sordid history of not selling well, I don't expect seeing an English version of Softenni popping up anytime soon. A bit unfortunate, since it seems like a fun show to watch, IMO.
Edit: Oh yes! 3500 posts!

Yeah, I agree, it's not really a sports anime.
It spoofs some sports cliches for comedic purposes but it's just a framing device for the character interaction.
There's almost an excuse to alter the title to take away the sports focus even more than the inevitable fan-service cover Sentai will probably be giving it.

I know the Sentai marketing gimmick but the series did focus on fanservice, especially the bonus shorts, which I hope Sentai has gotten too
