This should be interesting but wouldn't be a big surprise.
The series has good sales and a wonderful story imo. Production IG might be the studio? Just a guess though.

If this, indeed, a precursor to it being animated then I definitely look forward to it. There are certain aspects of the way things are depicted in the manga that I would love to see how they would be handled in fully-colored animated form.

I would love it if The Ancient Magus Bride got an anime. Such beautiful visuals would look even better in movement.
I worry about how much manga material they will adapt, though. As far as I know, there isn't much manga material to begin with what with there being maybe only 4 or 5 volumes out in Japan. If they do make an original ending, here's hoping that it's open ended enough for room for a possible second season.

Hope this is for animation and not live-action, but it does seem a bit too soon...

Five volumes is a perfectly reasonable amount of material for a one cour adaptation. And story arcs end often enough that there should be no problem finding a stopping place, even if they have to add some kind of coda to make it a satisfying conclusion.

In addition, this manga has long chapters, so it could be possible to animate 1 chapter per episode. With over 24 chapters currently out, they should easily have enough material to animate 12 episodes, even if they do 2 chapters per episode.
Factor in that the story does not have an overarching plot and it could end comfortably at the end of a given arc without leaving much of a cliffhanger.

Based on the three tankoubon I've read so far, a pace of 2-3 episodes per tankoubon feels about right. Hence five volumes would, I'd think, be enough for a 12 episode series.

Easily one of my favorite manga series that I'm currently reading, really hope this domain registration is an actual anime adaptation announcement, but for now we'll just have to wait and see.

I hope it'll be an anime. I've really been hoping for this since I saw the covers two years ago in Japan

Hmm, kind of feel like there's not enough there for a 12 episode series. And, even less so that they'd find a good place for them to stop off.

Oh, 12 episodes can easily be filled, most of it just with the events of the current 3 volumes of the manga in the US, when you consider that it'll be fleshed out a lot.
First off, I expect to get much more of Chise's past than the few panels we've gotten. Those can easily be fleshed out into fuller scenes. Secondly, the auction that started the series went by quite quickly, I expect it to take nearly half of the first episode.
I can't remember the exact order of events (it's been a while since I read 1 and 2), but here's the episode counts I see at current:
Introduction, Auction, and Chise getting settled: 2 episodes (if not 3)
Meeting with the alchemist chick whose name I forget: 1 episode
First meeting with Lindel, and everything with Nevin: 1-2 episodes
The stuff with the cats: 2 episodes (if not 3)
The stuff with the Faerie Queen: 1 episode
The stuff at the church: 2 episodes (if not 3)
The second trip to the Dragons: 1 episode (or 2)
So that's 10-15 episodes right there, in half of the current manga. Actually, the stuff at the church would be a good climax for a first season, so take off the second dragon trip and end it with that. Easily a 12-13 episode season, and take a cour or two off for the manga to get further, and give us another one.
