Slightly tangential to the article but since it's not mentioned in the ANN Encyclopaedia, it is worth noting that Osamu Tezuka grew up in Takarazuka and that the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum is a short walk from the Takarazuka Grand Theater.

Okay, they had to explain the Civil War in an intro when they showed Gone With the Wind in the UK--
How much do the JAPANESE know about the Emancipation Proclamation or the Gettysburg Address, apart from the fact that it's an all-American reference? (And I realize that the rest of the country knowing little about it is the point of doing the play, but still seems like the blind leading the blind...) |

It needs to be an anime. "My little Emancipator can't be this cute!" or "I don't have many Confederate friends," or "Is wrong to pick up congressional votes in a dungeon?"... all work just fine :3 Seriously if I had the money I'd have my tickets booked for this but they probably wouldn't take kindly to some white girl laughing her ass off in the crowd |

Y'know before I scrolled down and got the rest of the info, I said to myself, "That looks like Abraham..." and then you see it. Oh this is too funny. I would have never thought someone would do a stage performance on Abe Lincoln done though the way of Takarazakura.

I'm still waiting for their anime version of the civil war where all the generals and other top army officers are changed to cute young girls.
It is an all female revue, so why should anyone expect a male actor? |
