The rest of Godzilla had better look like Godzilla.
I am not all that really into 'horror' Godzilla. Godzilla is the king of monsters, not Jason Vorhee's competition.
But if they are remaking the Godzilla franchise and are going the horror route, with acid saliva and toxic pustule bursts, they might as well go all out and bring that classic Japanese horror staple, 'tentacles', to the fore. Cause we are going to need a bit of fan service to make us forget this is supposed to be a Godzilla movie.

Anno wants to bring Godzilla back to his nuclear terror roots. In many ways, that's more purely a Godzilla movie than the vast majority of the franchise.

After being woken up from a sound sleep by the earthquake, Gojira stopped by for a snack at Fukushima ... and it blew up on him. Was not a good day.

Aside from the head, I'm not liking the rest of what I'm seeing, although I think I can grow to like the body design, but the long neck is the biggest eye sore for me. I'd really like to see a full body shot to see how much my opinion changes.

chest looks convex to me. Not really liking how "cheap" it looks. I mean, it looks GOOD....but like..1950's good, not 2016 good.

Its a static animatronic/puppet, it will probably look much better when its alive on screen.
Rumor is he goes through multiple changes in the movie(getting bigger & bigger maybe?). For all we know these gruesome images are an in-between transition Godzilla is going through.
Personally I'm very excited and love the design.

I never got in to the whole Godzilla thing.
One day everyone is minding their own damn business in Tokyo, then an 800 foot lizard shows up and starts trashing the Tokyo tower. Everyone runs in terror until a second monster appears and starts doing the same thing. Godzilla becomes annoyed because the new monster is trashing "his" things. Suddenly people start rooting for Godzilla seeing he is less evil than the Diet. the new monster is defeated. Godzilla goes back to trashing Tokyo, only now instead of fleeing, all the people start go-go dancing on their roof tops.
Don't even get me started on the cartoon.

Godzilla is an iconic monster figure. Matthew Broderick's Godzilla movie died because the creature was not Godzilla.
I am not writing the movie off, because as others have said this could just be a preliminary design, in-between figure, or even a decoy. I have no problem with Godzilla coming back to his nuclear terror roots, but that doesn't mean they have to make Godzilla look like the undead.

So, if Baoh and Godzilla had a baby, this is what it'd look like?
