I'm still annoyed that Salad was actually Sakura's kid, and not Karin's. For one, it would've been a hilarious addition to Kishimoto's saga of treating Sakura like crap. And for two, it would've made the whole "We are family" thing even stronger, since blood connections aren't needed to be family. Having Salad be Sakura's biological was a cop-out, and i really hoped for better.

^ That would have been cool, too, but I'm mostly pleased with the way things played out. I guess I could see Kishimoto going either way.
I agree that Sarada is a stronger character than Boruto (not that I dislike Boruto), and I wouldn't mind seeing more stories centered on her in the future. I like the idea of Naruto's son supporting his archrival's daughter's efforts to become Hokage.

I remember enjoying this more than I thought I would. It's classic Kishimoto, and it's always fun seeing Naruto and Sasuke team up.
Now THIS should be something Pierrot uses as a "filler" arc after Shippuden ends.

Why it has to be "filler"? Description says that story is by Kishimoto, so it has to be "canonic" material.

After reading this side story, I still dislike Sasuke/Sakura getting together due to how much crap he put her through and the unfortunate implications involved.
But still, I actually like Sarada and hope for her to not follow her father's mistakes and be the better person.

Wait a minute...the second half of the penultimate paragraph of the review gives away who Sarada's mother is. (I've already read the story, so I know who she is, but it feels like the sentences, "To a point, I can finally understand Sakura having a child with Sasuke. I still believe she should have moved past her brooding childhood crush, but this volume makes it clear that Sasuke and Sakura share a unique bond" makes it pretty obvious.

Who knows? Maybe Pierrot will eventually reach the end of the anime adaptation and do this. Ideally, since Kishimoto repeatedly hints he wants to stop writing Naruto, he could let Pierrot take over from there, since the executives at Pierrot have no intention of stopping.
In other words, we have three things going on here:
1. The creator wants to quit.
2. The adaptation studio wants the series to keep going.
3. The audience wants the series to keep going.
Therefore, let the adaptation studio handle it. Then again, the fact that Kishimoto is supervising this new manga made by one of his assistants suggests to me that he still cares enough about his manga that he wants to make sure it's done right. It's still his baby.

I didn't mean literal filler, I just meant that if Pierrot wants to add yet more episodes before they adapt the final chapter, this could use this manga to pad it out a bit.

I see; considering that they use and abuse actual filler, I am afraid it would be easy to miss the part is original work actually.

Sarada is the daughter Naruto never had with Sakura

Speaking as someone who was never a huge Naruto fan, but read it in the Viz digital Jump for the last two years of it's run (and found it perplexing throughout) this was a very pleasent little mini series, and I might actualy buy the trade edition...

Sorry, I will never understand the hate for Sakura and Sasuke as a couple. Sasuke definitely was an asshole, but just as Sakura changed, Sasuke did too. While their relationship is not "ideal," it is necessary because of the circumstances surrounding them. And in a relationship, understanding and trust is extremely necessary, something they have shown.
Anyway, the reviewers can continue to hate on it for not being the ideal romance, but I think the forgiveness, love, and acceptance of both sides of the relationship are really wonderful.
Also, this is a shinobi world. There are different standards.

Sasuke and Sakura's relationship makes more sense when taken in context of both Part I, but Sasuke's relationship with his mother and her relationship with her husband. Sasuke swallows his pride and asks Naruto for the advice Sakura gave him rather than appear weak or incapable in front of Sakura during their training for the rematch with Zabuza. Later on, during the flashbacks within the Sound Four arc, Sasuke refuses to let his mom train him. At the end of the Land of Waves arc Sasuke declines to go on a date with Sakura, but it isn't made clear what the emotional context of the line is in the comic and the delivery of the line within the animated series by Sugiyama Nori'aki is very matter-of-fact. Sasuke certainly doesn't hate or dislike Sakura.
The Chuunin Exam arc is where the relationship between Sasuke and Sakura really deepens. Sasuke is the only one to notice that Sakura is depressed and feels useless, so he purposefully sets her up to be the one to reveal the illusion before the first exam. She is later the only character Sasuke confides in with regards to the battle with Orochimaru and the curse mark inflicted upon him. He then feels utterly powerless when he cannot save Sakura from Gaara. Would he really feel that way for Naruto or Kakashi, the former whom he almost entirely refuses to acknowledge is his best friend and the latter whom he takes every chance he can to display disrespect toward? The next arc does have Sasuke frustrated that Naruto is becoming the center of attention not only within the village but from Itachi, too, so he certainly feels jealously when Sakura is not involved, but that's only natural.
The very of Sarada's arc within this mini-series is that she exists only because her parents love one another. It's implied rather heavily that she was very much planned, rather than any sort of accident or surprise. Given her parents practically became Sasuke's parents it's not surprising to see her confused but the least she could have done was just ask outright if she came from Sakura's womb or not.

not exactly. it will be similar to the kakashi chronicles where it is canon material in the manga, but its in a filler arc in the anime version due to budget restrictions of some kind. its not the first time a part of a manga wasnt introduced in the anime until it shows up in a filler ep. if you watch a lot of the shonen jump anime series from ep 1 you'll see a few filler eps that had small chapters in the manga.
