It's directed by Mamoru Hosoda - OF COURSE it's a must watch!

You got words from my mouth.
Seriously, this is really good news - after Miyazaki retirement and the box-office failures of other Ghibli movies, the news about new Hosoda movie doing well is amazing.

WOLF CHILDREN DIRECTOR.
Oh my, I remember in 2013 when I watched Attack on Titan and I watched Wolf Children at the same time. Great memories Now I get to watch the second season, and The Boy and the Beast both next year.

Of course Funimation got the licence. Actually I was having a conversation with some fellows from the NYAFF that just ended this past Sunday. We were talking about Mamoru Hosoda's films, and they mentioned that they tried to get Boy and the Beast for this years fest. Well, it will definitely be on next years list of things to get. I guess if I don't see it before then at some fest, NYICFF (Gkids) will have it for 2016's debut and hopefully Hosada-san will attend as he's done for his other past screenings.

I wonder if this film will advertised (in the US) a lot more than their previous films... I'm saying this because of the deal Funimation made with ' Universal Pictures Home Entertainment'. Is it possible that "bigishh" movies like this will be in more theaters, now?

I saw this movie opening day, so I'm happy to say I helped contribute to the box office in my little way. The movie itself has some great aspects - the fight animation, the art in general, and more than anything else the relationship between Kyuta and Kumatetsu. In other ways, though, it felt like a bit of a step back from Wolf Children, which really seems to be Hosoda's masterpiece. The movie has pretty poor pacing and really fails in building up any of its multitude of characters beyond the titular Boy and the Beast. Still, overall it was a high quality anime movie, and I think fans of Hosoda's should be pretty pleased.
