Tokyo, Japan — Following a busy 2024 that saw her headline arenas and release a new album, Japanese artist KAF keeps the tempo up on her first single of the year. “My Life,” made with Tokyo-based electronic creator Moe Shop, pulses ahead on a club-ready bounce and gives room for KAF to flex her vocal dexterity as the track mutates around her. Besides starting her 2025 off on an energetic note, it reminds how the pioneering virtual artist remains eager to experiment with her sound.
“My Life” also shows KAF's continued interest in collaboration. The song's jittery electro-pop comes courtesy of Moe Shop, a prolific producer born in France and now based in Japan. Channeling their home country's rich history of dance music and cross-pollinating it with Tokyo's maximalist club sound, Moe Shop has become a darling online and IRL. This marks Moe Shops' second collaboration with an artist from the KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO family, having previously worked with RIM on a song for Netflix.
On “My Life,” they construct a dance labyrinth for KAF to navigate, featuring piano-driven melodies and detours into chest-rattling sounds. KAF herself glides through it all, reminding of her vocal prowess even as the sounds around her transform.
“My Life” marks the beginning of a big year for KAF. She also appears as a guest on fellow virtual artist Hoshimachi Suisei's recently released full-length album SHINSEI MOKUROKU, singing on the song “DEADPOOL.”
