Related to Blood+, there is a huge project underway for a Live Action for the story which will be directed by Bill Kong (aka William Kong, director of movies such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon).

Now, Blood+ bored the hell out of me and I never bothered to finish the story. I'm going to watch the movie but from what I read about it, I won't understand anything unless I finish Blood+. The only reason I care that this particular anime is going to be made in Live Action is because the main character, Saya, will be my favorite Korean actress, Jun Ji Hyun. She will be making her Hollywood debut through this film and a shitty story will ruin her chances of success. So what I wanted to ask is: What's the story, does it have any kind of depth for having a vampire theme, and in your own opinions, does it have any chances of being a success as a live action, assuming that Bill Kong will do a great job like he did with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon?

Oh, I found the source in Korean, and here's the link.

[EDIT: Made the title a little different from the one in the Talkback forum. -TK]

The thing about Blood+ is that it draws out too long in the first 19 episodes, and then again around the last 8. Everything between it, though, is a pretty good action/adventure story that relies on plotwists, action, and drama (in that order).

You get some information on Saya's/Haji's past, Diva, the Chevaliers, and see some pretty dramatic moments. I can't say because then I'd be spoiling it.

However, if you ever do get past episode 19 and eventually to the end, chances are you'll be as dissappointed as I and a few other fans were with how the series became way too melodramatic for its own good within those last few episodes I mentioned.

But if anything, I'd recommend it for that middle part of the series and the awesome soundtrack alone. And yeah, Ji-hyun Jun is such a hottie. My Sassy Girl is my favorite romantic comedy ever Anime hyper!

Personally, I thought that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was pretty crappy, same goes with my friends and family. As for whether Blood live action has a chance of being a success, I'll say that it does, but only depending on what is considered a success. Blood+ I also feel was pretty boring, especially after the main plot unfolded and the characters were all introduced. At first, I was quite interested, with the spoiler[death of Saya/Kai/Riku's father, their beginning with Red Shield, the events at the school, and Diva locked in the box]. After episode 20 or so, things became straightforward and predictable. It's hard for a predictable story to contain depth, and that's what I felt happened with Blood+. The simpleness of most of the characters were quite boring too.

I hope Blood+ does well, since I always want anime adaptation live action productions to be good, but it's gonna take some work to make this one good.
