Cool although I kinda expected it. Hoping a good studio will adapt this faithfully. Maybe Bones?

Wonderful news. I'm hoping for a good adaptation.

I'm always happy for more Arakawa anime, but isn't this kind of early? I mean, there are only two volumes out right now. Or are they planning to work ahead of the manga based on the source novels?

While I'm a little dissapointed that they're using Arakawa's version, it was expected. And story is good, so I'll obviously be watching it.

My thoughts exactly. The Arakawa version is OK, but if you grew up with the original novels and previous manga it just isn't the same.

You're asking for a good studio, not an automatic non-seller. Bones hasn't made a hit in years.
Anyway, glad to see the trend of fully adapting abandoned anime from the 90s continue, especially if it's more Tanaka. But too bad it's the FMA designs. They look un-embellished and dull.

Guys, there is something I don't understand.
According with ANN, manga Vintage is: 2013-07-09 (serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine). But the OVA is from 1991.
Please, ¿Can someone explain me this?

The 1991 OVA is a direct adaptation of the original novels, which Yoshiki Tanaka started writing back in 1986. Arakawa's manga is only the most recent adaptation.

I read some early pages and ended up flipping through the pages, it reminded me a lot, of my disappointment in her Hero Tales.
So I'll likely skip the anime adaptation.
Is it even popular there in Japan?

Sad but true. Everything Bones touches seems to be a commercial flop in Japan.
