Lots of content equating to about 50% of the retail game for only a fifth of the price, with a discount as well as bonuses for buying the bundle, for less than a single map pack in other games. In addition, it wasn't content removed from the game prior to launch, nor on the disk behind a paywall activation code. Kudos to Nintendo for being the only people to get DLC right, despite little experience with it.

This. Nintendo does DLC right and does it for the fans first, not their wallets.
Also, the article forgot to mention the F-Zero kart in the Zelda DLC pack.

Lots of people online today using different coloured Yoshis and Shy Guys while in the Mecerdes Benz karts.
£11 Nintendo are charging in the UK. ELEVEN POUNDS. For all that? Couldn't say no.

This is the first DLC I have ever bought. My game pad suddenly came on last night and showed me a picture of Link driving a cart. I couldn't not buy it.

This actually makes my dream of Link making it into a Mario Party seem possible.

Link and the Animal Crossing characters are really neat, but Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach? Surely there are some Mario characters that are obviously missing from the roster that they should have put in.
Overall this is a fantastic DLC package with a fantastic price, but I just can't fathom why, when they have time to make DLC, they still insist on creating Mario and Peach clone characters instead of, I don't know, Diddy Kong, Bowser Jr., Birdo, etc.?

Cat Peach is a mascot in Japan. Her and Cat Mario advertise a ton of Nintendo stuff so there's probably big demand for them.
I'd rather have Zero Suit Samus riding a bike than Link, though..
