I am so scared for the success of this movie. Meaning that it could go oh so horribly wrong...

I actually think it is going to turn out well. I have a good feeling about it for some reason.

Considering the track record of the writers, and the track record of Power Rangers (especially when it comes to movies), it's almost impossible for it to go horribly wrong.
Almost.

I dunno. Orci already let his 9/11-trutherism creep into one franchise movie he wrote.

I don't know who these writers are but Power Rangers's track record has always been horrible, man.

Seeing the name Orci and the mention of Transformers fills me with fear. Orci's involvement with Amazing Spider-Man also does him no favours in my eyes.

How far could an executive producer influence creative process, exactly? To the point that he/she may veto everything the writers have done or even dictate his/her own story?

Just as long as Orci isn't the writer, I'm fine. It's the same with Michael Bay producing the new TMNT movie. Better to leave him in the producer's chair than the director/writer's.
And since XMFC and "Thor" were actually good, I have high hopes for this.

Between this, and the live action Dumbo remake in the works, I feel like Hollywood is really at some kind of dead end.

I'm not understanding the complaining... Thor and First Class were very good films, dynamic in presentation...

Both helped immensely by Orci not being anywhere near them.

They also both had really great directors. I'm not sure how much credit should go to them vs. the directors, though... since they never struck me as similar in style, but both seemed similar in style to other works by the same directors, I'm inclined to say it's more the directors... but I really don't know.
Those are good examples of the "more human superhero story" trend, so I think that's a good sign.

As long as it has teenagers with attitude, I'll be happy.
