Many people do not realize the background used in this poster came from what is called the 'Rising Sun Flag', a symbol of Japan's imperialism and racism. It is equivalent to Nazi flag as it reminds wartime crimes against humanity committed by Japan to many Asians and considered to be very offensive. You may think the poster is very cool without knowing the historical and political background, but it is disappointing that a big production company such as Warner Bros. is using this for a movie poster which will be viewed by many children and anime fans. I wish they take necessary action to stop using this movie poster. For fans who do not know about the rising sun flag, please check below links for further information.
