What, Spike Lee didn't decide to tweet out this guy's address, in the hopes that vigilante justice would be served up?

Maybe he learned his lesson from the last time he did that, when he tweeted out the "wrong" address and ended up slapped with a lawsuit? Nah, fools like this guy never learn.

Spike lee disgusts me.

I dunno, Spike. Maybe because your production company posted his work to their Facebook page with their own copyright notice added?

Coming from the guy who sued the Spike network because he thought they were cashing in on his name, this attitude is hilarious.

I will admit it's kind of hypocritical for a guy who just financed his last movie through Kickstarter...

They hired an advertising firm for the posters, and it was the advertising firm that screwed the artist guy.

Still, that's not a good response from Spike Lee whose film needs the help of any good publicity as it can get.

Three words: What a jerk.

No wonder people don't take him seriously anymore. Plus his Old Boy remake has been panned and didn't have a good opening.

Except if you look at the screenshot the guy posted of the company's Facebook page with his poster on it, it belongs to Forty Acres and a Mule Filmworks, which is owned by Lee. They even added their own copyright notice to the picture.

Well of course they own the copyright to it. They didn't give that up when they hired the advertising firm.

It is always interesting when someone will stand up and attempt to fix the injustices that are committed against another group of people only when they feel affected by it. But because Spike Lee doesn't know how he will benefit from speaking up and helping someone that worked directly with his company and associated firms.

Then he basically told him to screw off and insulted the man's work as well by saying pay me for someone asking him to look into this situation. Equating reading a comment to an artist putting his skills to work.

If the public image doesn't match the private person than that is his fault. And his public display in this case makes me not like him very much. I don't expect Lee to fix every wrong done to every person in the world, but this is silly when he feels it is unrelated to him, his film, and his company.

No, Spike insulted the Instagram commenter who sent the comment.

Yes I know he insulted the commenter. But his statement is equating having to read in his opinion a stupid comment to the artist asking for payment on the poster art.

Umm.....what does Spike Lee and an artist about the Oldboy poster have to do with anime and Japanese pop culture Confused ? This doesn't seem fitting to post this story on Anime News Network if it has nothing to do with the other kind of stuff we usually see here. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something but unless Spike Lee was involved with something that has to do with Japan or its pop culture then it doesn't make sense to put it up on the website in the first place.

Oldboy is an American remake of a Korean film that was a somewhat loose (?) adaptation of a manga series.

Spke Lee acting like a fool.

Must be a day ending in a "y".

You know, the responsible thing would have been to say "you know what? This is the first I've heard of this, and I have no clue what you're talking about, but as an artist, I know what it's like to have my work used without my permission. Let me look into this and figure out what happened. If something wasn't done correctly, we'll make it right."

Good PR for Lee and his folk, and a bit of good news for the artist.

But that would be too easy, and for some, taking the high road, trying to make things right when/if others have been wronged is just too much effort.
