I just wanted to report, that the New Getta Robo (#3868) - 新ゲッターロボ (2004), was a tv show, and not an OVA release.
Thanks! |

Similar problems for Goku: Midnight Eye and its sequel. According to respective official pages at Madhouse they were both OAV not movies.

I don't understand you. With the exception of highly popular titles, most licensed anime are "changed" to OVA i.e. not available on TV or theaters near you. ANN doesn't do that; here the Encyclopedia list every title as their respective initial state of availability. If you think any title has been listed incorrectly please report them along with supporting evidences. Only system administrators can modify category information (TV/OAV/special/movie), and even for them doing so is not a simple left button click. |

Well, i just wanted to say, that the anime should have a note (in the trivia area perhaps?), about the change of category from Japanese Tv series into an OVA for the US market. |

I just checked the official site. It's an OVA. Period.
It has 13 episodes similar to a TV series, but it was only available either by DVD purchase or through pay-per-view (either on computer though Bandai Channel or on Pay Per View Japan, aka Perfect Choice), thus an OVA.
No way. Anime don't exist just for the US market. If a TV anime has not been aired on US TV doesn't mean it has not been aired on TV elsewhere in the world. Similarly, many movies (animated or not) don't get theatrical releases overseas but are broadcasted on TV channels. Should they be called "originally a movie but became a 2-hour TV program in [insert name of the country]?" That would be ridiculous. |
