sadly i have to agree with the yu-gi-oh thing, like on some other forums kids have been saying i like this show because it's cool
"because it's cool? is that even a valid answer? i think not seriously they should have a reason for liking the show or any show for that matter plus with out them actually seeing the first season ( which in the dub was taken out ) it's basically a craze for the cards now |

*weeps for the inhumanity* That said, Yugioh can be entertaining - it's just not interesting to me at all. It IS a merchandising goldmine though , as it was intended to be. |

 While I may agree with you that certain series can be a tad overrated, may I ask you to elaborate on why Slayers and YuGiOh in particular are popular for "the wrong reasons?" What are those wrong reasons?
I think I can understand the YuGiOh thing, but the Slayers bit is throwing me off. |

well, not really sure what anime I would say...it varies, but I will say some really bad reasons for it to be popular:
1. guys liking it solely for the fanservice 2. girls liking solely for the bishonen (guilty of this one  )

Yeah, something like that. I finally got off my lazy ass long enough to make a new one.
I don't mind girls liking anime for the pretty boys, but it's a bit perturbing if they only like a series for slash potential. That makes for interesting conversations. "So hey, I really like the animation for Wolf's Rain." "OMG, I know! Tsume and Kiba make such a CUTE pair!!!" ^-^; |

Wow, I thought for sure someone would have posted DBZ by now. I'm glad tho, because I love DBZ.

once again i have to agree on the dbz most people only like it for the fighting and that just proves mankind is the most savage animal there is the most popluar shows tend to be ones with violence correction lots of violence (emphasis on the lots)

DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon (ONCE popular).
DBZ: Only liked for it's fighting. Yu-Gi-Oh!: Only liked for it's card storyline. The dub was horrendous. What if another dubbing studio had gotten it? I always wonder... Pokemon: ... |

I used to love DBZ. But now i watch it and it sucks so much. They spend half the time talking. Even when they do fight they are talking. Too much blah blah blah stuff. And when they do fight the bad guy is like a foot away and the good guys are making a plan to kill thebad guy(s), and they are talking loud enough for the bad guy(s) to hear. Yet the bad guy(s) is surprized when they attack. And the bad guy(s) just sit there and wait patiently for the good guys. And the story is the same "I'm so weak, i cant beat this guy, i need to train to become stronger", its just crap now. Well, i think you get the point, its just so lame now. But people think the show is good for the fights....I dont see why. I cant even stand GT now.

I think Love Hina is a great anime. I think its funny and somewhat original. But hey, thats my opinion. |
