By now, I'm sure some of you have seen the second episode of the Hellsing Ultimate OVA.
So what'd ya think?
I found it a lot better than the first episode. As many have said, the soundtrack definitely isn't nearly as good as the TV series, but it's not bothersome.
The animation and art look much better than the first episode, and the action sequence betwen Luke and Alucard was just fantastic. Funny, as I watched it and then compared it to the fight from the TV series. The difference in quality is astounding.
Comments?
Mod Note: Talk about it all you like but we don't need any of the HEE HEE WINK WINK I'M SURE WE ALL IMPORTED IT crap. Just talk about the show, nobody cares when or how any of you saw it.

I got this in a couple nights ago. Yes, it was absolutely awesome. Much better than the first episode. Of course, the 2nd manga volume was better than the 1st one too.
I had my doubts that this series would be as good as the TV series or manga, but now all those doubts are cast away. If every episode of Hellsing OVA is as beautifully animated and follows the original storyline, I believe it will surpass both the quality of the TV series and even the manga.
The animation was obviously much improved over the last volume, which didn't seem as layered (in color) or as fluid. The animation staff is obviously saving their budget for the more battle-intensive episodes (like this one). I may never watch the TV version of this storyline anymore, is all I'm going to say. (Even though I still adore Hellsing TV for introducing me to the series.)
Hellsing Ultimate ep. II gets my thumbs up.

Of course I imported the series.....I actually am planning on buying the OVA as they are being released....I need premium sound, and my PMP doesn't exactly have the best headphones.
As for the episode 2. I thoroughtly enjoyed myself with this episode, episode one felt lackluster so to speak. But here things are getting interesting with whole Millieum arc finally coming into play. One part of this episode that really struck me as being amazing was when Seras snapped and was smashing and destroying all the Ghouls (that were formely hellsing members) and Intergra has to yell at her to stop. I've always thought that Seras was a character that I would like to see more of in this series, want to see that side of her that becomes a vampire. How over she's becoming less human and more a vampire......btw I love Walter.
I thought that the soundtrack while it's not the best ever it's still does an adequate job in setting the mood. I feel that here the original TV series has done a better job.
As far as comparing the animations between the OVA and TV, I haven't seen the original TV version in sometime so I don't remember exactly how it compares to the OVA. But I do find the art to be very enjoyable thus far, althought that Yellow uniform of Seras is still strange for me when I look at it.
Till next time,
Delta Kiral

I was highly impressed by this episode as well and can't wait for more. Now we're into uncharted teritory as the other series takes a different direction. Next episode should yield another confrontation with Anderson, a clue to the meaning of Millenium, and maybe a little trip to South America.
I also loved Seras's annihillation of the Ghouls in this episode though, it's just brutally awesome. I always felt they never did what they could have with the character in the first series and then of course I read what's available of the manga which proved my suspicions.

My comments are the same as others.
But after getting back from AnimeFest today, I want to mention that I actually got to see episode 1 in English (well, the end of it anyway) in a special screening.
I had no idea they had finished it already and they were airing episodes 1 and 2 (not sure if 2 was dubbed because the room was packed, and I didn't feel like standing around) in one of the video rooms.
If you like the TV series dub, you will not be dissappointed as all of the main VAs (Integra, Alucard, Seres, and Anderson) are perfectly retained from their roles a few years ago. In fact, the first episode got a round of applause after it ended. Very good stuff, and I'm looking forward to it this December.

Well that's good to know, I knew they were getting the cast back togather but I also thought Freeman had Union issues or something. I personally prefer him over the Japanese VAs actually he just sounds so supremely full of himself in that role just as the character should sound being the number one most powerful vampire in existance.

Just finished it, simply brilliant and captures the epic power of these characters and their story perfectly. Can hardly wait for the next one. =)

Pure droolage. I liked the scenes of Luke slashing through Hellsing troops and Jan acting out the Contra cheat code. The part where Integra grabs Seras to stop her rampage was very moving.
Going... into withdrawls... must see... volume three!

The jump in quality from volume 1 was astounding. Everything just looks so much crisper this time around and the colors are way more vivid. Alucard showing that guy what a true vampire is supposed to be and then utterly destroying him was one of my favorite moments from the manga and it was done absolutely perfectly here.

1 episode = 1 volume of manga. There are 8 volumes of manga, so that's 8 episodes, at least. The rest depends on Hirano's work ethic and when he decides to actually finish the series. But a 10 month gap between episodes is a lot of time, so maybe he'll get his butt in gear eventually.
