I really liked school rumble because of the comedy and romance genres on it.
I really liked shuffle! because it was an anime where the harem wasnt too extreme and in the end the main character ended up with on person. I liked kimi ga nozomu eien because it was dramatic but really realistic. I basically like slice of life anime which takes place in school that is funny and dramatic and realistic. [b]anyone know any similar animes? Any suggestion is acceptable. thanks! =D |

[b]Honey & Clover fits that bill quite perfectly. I've seen it and highly recommend it that is if you don't mind downloading fansubs. Another anime that fits that bill (well except in the drama department) would be Azumanga Daioh which I had just finished viewing a few weeks ago. Azumanga Daioh is availabe on DVD as it is licensed by ADV films. Both those anime are realistic and funny. Honey & Clover has a perfect balance of comedy and drama in my opinion where as Azumanga is mostly comedy with little drama if not for the ending (if you considered it a dramatic event). And finally as you requested they both have that slice of life feel that you are looking for. "Believe it!" - IchigoK90 |

ill check those out. just wondering though... does azumanga dioh have romance in it? in the ANN review of it, it looks like just an anime about girls. |

I'll second Honey and Clover, and it's second season Honey and Clover II just started a few weeks ago and it seems to keep up with the quality of the first season which was pretty high in my opinion.
Something that’s a little old is Hana Yori Dango, not super funny all the time (except fro the OP which is just comedy gold in my opinion, although I don’t know if that’s what they were really trying for). |

I'll third Honey and Clover for comedy + serious romance, also Suzuka is pretty good for a serious romance series

You might try Marmalade Boy. anime#461
It's about a girl named Miki who has led a fairly normal life until her parents tell her that they met another couple and they're going to divorce then marry the opposite members of the other couple (hope that's not too confusing ) The other couple has a son and the parents decide that to keep the kids in a "stable" situation, they're all going to live in the same house. There is also the best girl friend who's in love with a teacher and who has the school heartthrob chasing her, the best boy friend who thinks alot about Miki and the mistake he made, the school drop-out and piano prodigy who falls for Miki and the American exchange student who fall for Miki...... This may or may not be what you're looking for, but it's still loads of fun. |
