Ia it just me or did the last five minutes of episode twenty six confuse anyone else as well? I followed everything up through the killing of Goda and Kuze but the scene at the temple seems out of place with the different uniforms and the fuchikomas rtaher than tachikomas. Are they saying that all this took place before the rest of the GITS universe or after

There are 2 GITS universes: The movie universe and the TV show universe.
The ending took place later on the TV universe.

I just think it happened in the future after the events with Goda and Kuze, but in the same GiTS: SAC universe.
Basically setting it up for another season, I think the very end where they show the fuchikomas is just to give you hope that the tachikoma's AI's might actually still be 'alive', or brought back at some point.

Well, the only planned sequel at the moment is GITS: SAC: Solid State Society which is a film and currently green-lighted by production IG. No clue when it'll be done and released though.

I think we've seen the last of the Tachikomas. While they did save the Dejima district from getting nuked, they went against the Major's orders (I believe her quote was something along the lines of "I don't know why, but they went against my orders and acted on their own") AI's that don't listen to commands would be bad, especially when they're tanks.

I found the ending to be interesting in that it does leave open the possability for another season.Overall i liked the episode,as was the case with the whole season.

Wasn't the circumstances that they lost contact, the situation changed drastically after the Major's last instructions to them, and they had to make a judgement call and form a plan of their own based on the new information she wasn't aware of during their last conversation? At least that's the way I read the scenes, unless I missed something very important.

At RezSav
this is not nessarilly a bad thing throughout the two seasons the major and the tachikomas questioned the posibility of each of the tachikomas becoming unique and possibly developing thier own ghosts
one question i have is in regards to the universes, is there any real stated reason to beleive that the movies and the TV show are not the same universe, the only posible reason would be if they say that sec9 was just created at the beginning of the first season, as for the manga i have not read it so i wouldn't know

Yeah I agree, I think she would rather have "things" working under her that can adapt to new situations with out her holding their hand. Thats much more valuable than a soilder that blindly follows orders...

Agreed with some the recent comments -- think overall the Major has to be happy with the fact that Tachikoma's made there own decision of what they think the best possible thing to do. The fact that they decieded to essentially sacrifice themselves to save all those people gives the hint that they really eventually did collectivly develop something resembling a ghost, and not just an evolving AI. Great conclusion to the 2nd GIG story.
Can't wait for Solid State Society now...
