anyone know any good ramance anime, im already into love hina, ai yori aoshi, fruits basket, karin, uta kata, ginban kaleidscope, gaukuen alice and a few more i cant remember, im really into the cuteness of em (not a pink shirt in sight)
id really like to see a anime with the realness of say grave of the fireflys, not all death n such, but no slap stick kids stuff, but something more adult, but not hentei, anyhow im going on.

ps. great to be here!

Well first anime that comes to mind is Escaflowne. If you don’t mind a slightly annoying main protagonist, then I would suggest you check it out. It has a great story line, and I think some fantastic fight scene.
Check it out

Another one that comes to mind is my favourite romantic anime. Macross plus, it's not strictly Romance it has a lot of other genres mixed with it, (but then again what anime is not a hybrid genre).

Both of these animes have great story lines and fantastic cliché love triangles. The only thing I would say is Escaflowne is more about wider character emotions, where as Macross goes into the characters emotions in depth.

Hope this helps Smile

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, aka Rumbling Hearts is well known for it's "realness" which deals with romance.

Personally, I thought it wasn't very real and sucked, but the ratings say otherwise. Try it, you might like it.

Welcome!

I would suggest two of my personal favorites: Fushigi Yugi & Ceres (aka Ayashi No Ceres).

Fushigi Yugi is a bit of a reverse harem anime. One girl, Miaka Yuki, and her 7 male Warriors. Miaka was sucked into a book and her goal is to find the warriors, and the entire group call upon the god Suzaku to save the country she landed in. Of course calling on the God isn't easy and she goes through ALOT!

Ceres is about Aya Mikage and when she turns 16 discovers that she has another person inside of her, Ceres, who is out to kill Aya's family...and Aya's family is out to kill her. Aya's goal is to find Cere's Celestial robe, and like Miaka's goal, it isn't easy.

Both of these are VERY good, there's romance, drama, action and tears. Hope that you'll enjoy.

Try Honey and Clover, it's both romantic and serious and very real (well, maybe except the Morita parts).

A couple of titles you might wanna check out:

Hoshi no Koe/Voices of a Distant Star
-It's a 25 minute independent animation piece by Makoto Shinkai.

Saikano/ She, the ultimate weapon
-"The last love song on this little planet." Warning: this series is depressing as hell, and while it does have its cute moments, remember that it deals with the end of the world, war, and a disturbing amount of death. Touching ending, though...it made me cry.

Whispers of the Heart:
-By Hayao Miyazaki. Not as famous as the Oscar-winning Spirited Away, but a beautiful, down-to-earth piece that talks about first love, innocent romance, and the turbulence of adolescence.

Boys Be:
-Another teen romance series. The stories are pretty basic, but the relationships vary from realistic to flowery. It reads a bit like Dawson's Creek.

Hoshi no Koe i love! hard to think it was only him and his wife that put the whole thing together.

beyond the clouds is the other by him, thats very good

and Whispers of the Heart, what a classic its so sweet, love how dated it is aswell, you can really see the 80s come alive! Laughing

I've not heard of the other two, so i will look them up.

Whispers of the heart...

Classic adolescent love story...agreed!

What threw me back was the quality of the animation. Considering that this was in the 80's and studios were stuck doing everything manually with no digital assist, the illustrations and art looked like a work of love.

Glad to from somebody who also appreciates the subtle beauty of the classics! Very Happy

Not sure if what I'll list will exactly fit what you're looking for, but they're worth a look IMO.

Top 3 not already mentioned.
Suzuka: set in high school, no real fantasy. Basically guy moves to Tokyo for HS, sees girl practicing the high jump and falls for her. They're relationship is love/hate for most of it. Hope that's not spoilerish for anyone.
Some silliness, but I thought this was well done.

Shuffle! Starts off very silly and seems to be a standard haremish (5+ girls to 1 passive guy). Gets more serious about episode 12 I think. Has magic, angels/demon/folks not of our dimension.

Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu: Trying to describe this without spoilers...Guy decides to go swimming at night over summer vacation at his school and meets a girl he's never seen before. He eventually finds out her story.

So you know where I'm coming from, I really enjoyed Love Hina, Fruits Basket, Shuffle!, Rumbling Hearts (why that name for the US I don't understand), Maburaho among many others.

Oh and while not strictly a standard romance you may want to check out Air. The ending may through you though, I'm thinking I need to watch it again. [/spoiler]
