I was just wondering if anyone else noticed the horrible voice acting of the American cast of naruto. Although it might be hard to find good voice actors for animas but there is no excuse for Rock Lee to sound like a robot.

I have to admit that I stopped watching Naruto after about 6 episodes and one of the reasons was that Naruto's voice just got on my nerves. It was very irritating.

Eh. They're good. You shouldn't watch dubbed anime expecting movie quality acting.

I too think that Naruto's English voice sucks. No match for Naruto's deep female seiyuu voice, which I love.

I understand that the voices are alittle poorly matched to the animation; however, I have watched both the Japanese version and the dubbed american version and I think that the voices really closely captured the characters as they are as childeren.

It's just that it was almost shrill and far too strident. I don't know, there have been much better voices on characters like Naruto.

Their voice acting is still better than your grammar. Maybe you should start a competition with the Naruto voice actors. It can be that you learn how to spell, and they learn how to get more into their character.
But seriously the voice acting is okay. I don’t mind it one bit and don’t see anything wrong with characters sounding like robots. I was hoping the bug guy had a deeper voice since he was so mysterious, but he ended up sounding “nice”. The voice actors are never going to satisy everyone no matter how hard they try. Disappointed but then again it’s free anime and you can’t beat free anime.

I do not expect dubbed animas to have movie quality voice acting. Its just that its a serious let down from the Japanese version of naruto.

It might, of course the show sucks anyways and so does the japanese voice acting so perhaps they were just going for consistency. But yes, I know, American voice acting automatically sucks and Japanese is 10x better at everything and it's likely god himself is Japanese too. Seriously, don't some of you tire of these "Lolz, dubs sux, subs rulez" threads? Either way, they're both far from stellar and the American isn't all that bad, it does always amuse me to see how dubs get blasted over and over but somehow miraculously there's never a bad Japanese dub ever, really is quite a phenomenon.

Its just that its a serious let down from the Japanese version of naruto. also I don't believe that the American voice actor capture the emotions of the charters. Naruto in the Japanese version sound like an idiot or childish. but in the American version naruto sounds like a chick. also he dose not say believe it ever 10 seconds witch got annoying after the first episode.

I think some of the voices, including Rock Lee, are actually ok. They played Lee like a Bruce Lee type, and I think that suits him. Most of the other genin characters were kinda messed up though, the ones that got their first major lines this episode. It's hard to define how they were wrong, just that they kinda were.
The worst by far is still Naruto, something that I find ironic since he not only has his name in the title of the show, but as far as episode 170 it would seem that he's the star of the show as well, so you'd think they'd try to find an actor to play that role. Ugh.

I was completely unimpressed with the voice acting at first, but as long as they capture the character, I guess it doesn't matter how much of a "match" the voices are with their Japanese counterpart.
Naruto's voice is all-around irritating and doesn't capture anything but his beginning 'annoying' factor which he's supposed to slowly rid himself of. They've turned him into a constantly whining, arrogant brat and even more of a typical shounen main character role.
On a brighter note, there are voices like Zabuza's which meet, if not exceed, the original. I was hugely impressed. Haku sounded like a middle-aged women, so my awe dropped a little when he came in, but even that couldn't take away from Zabuza's amazing voice.
I think Lee's voice is a fine match. Not perfect, but not something that sticks out as even 'bad'. It captures his way of speech very well. Gai's voice is VERY different from its original, but captures his character well. His character is easy to pick up on for people who are starting with the dub.
Shikamaru's voice is probably most disapointing for me. He sounds like some kind of...depressed version of Napolean Dynamite- and that's NOT a compliment despite the popularity of that movie (which I hated).
Let's face it, when you dub an anime there will almost always be a few voices that don't meet the character's standards (Naruto, Sakura, Gaara, Ino, and Iruka to name a few), but there will also be ones that are exeptable or extremely well done (Zabuza, Lee, Sasuke (I suppose, though his lines are a little muddled), the sound 3, and Hinata- who not only captures the character, but sounds exactly like the original version.)
I think every original fan will have something to complain about, and it's obvious that we'll prefer the Japanese version. I disagree with your generalization that all of the voice acting 'sucks', because I find a lot of it perfectly done.
I still cringe about ten times per episode, though, and that's on a mediocre one, but not only because of the voices. Because of the lines, the cuts, the other changes that aren't in discussion here. :B

What's this "sukes" thing you're asking? If you mean "sucks," then no, I don't think they suck, I think they're just fine. They're not perfect, but when is it? And don't start saying the Japanese actors are better, because unless you're fluent in Japanese you cannot get the full extent of their acting. I've explained this before so I'll leave it for now.
